Secret Lair x The Hobbit: Desolation

Description Not every road out of The Shire leads to wonder. Some lead under black branches, over dead ground, and straight into the fire. Bilbo’s adventure begins with songs, supper, and a contract. It does not stay that way. Past the safe green edges of home, the path narrows into Mirkwood’s hungry dark, the Lonely Mountain’s long shadow, and the ruin left by a Dragon who sleeps on stolen gold and still dreams of burning more. Pig Hands, Scott Okumura, Septian Fajrianto, Zbigniew M. Bielak, Raf/Too Many Skulls, and DZO bring those dangers a fierce new shape, where every spell looks torn from a tour poster and every quiet war

Hannah ★★★★★

The art direction on the black-forest scenes is properly menacing, and that flavor text really captures the "over dead ground" dread. Cards feel thick and the foiling catches light nicely, so it's a solid display piece straight out of the box.

Eli N. ★★★★★

The art really captures that shift from cozy Shire songs to the dread of black branches and dead ground—it’s like flipping a page in the book. I’ve already framed a couple of the cards because the contrast is that striking.

Matthew I. ★★★★★

The contract scene is what sold me—that illustration of Bilbo staring at the fine print captures the book’s tone perfectly, and the card stock feels great in hand. Packed tight and arrived without a scratch, which I always worry about with special sets.
